A few years ago, I posted an Outrider Star Wars Microfighter on moc-pages. It was well liked. As moc-pages is now non-existent, I have shared it for your inspiration here, in the most recent version of it (there are many good ways to make it).
A Complete Alternate Build
This model is a complete alternate build of the first Millenium Falcon Microfighter Set (Lego 75030) that was released in 2014. Having all the parts in one set reduces the need of bags or bins to store any extra pieces. Instead, it's all in the model, and is easily rebuilt into the original. I personally keep a lot of complete alternate builds built for long periods of time.
Playable Features
One if the main things I like to do when designing models is making sure that they have playable/posable features. A model without these features is lifeless. In this model, I included the original set's flick-fire missiles for your playing pleasure. Personally, I consider these missiles as if they were laser cannons, and it turns out that they are placed exactly where the Outrider's laser cannon turrets are. This makes the model more realistic.
Ooh, that above picture is a little blurry, sorry. It never looks that way on the camera photo review screen.
Above is a view of the engine area. Note that these engine tubes are mounted sideways to a plate inside the ship, and smoothed out on the non-connecting ends with tiles. This makes the engines less likely to be knocked off accidentally.
A view of the seat without an occupant. Note that it smoothly blends into the body of the ship.
Rebuildability/ Instructions
I have never historically made this model have instructions, as it is very small and simple. A little bit of creativity may be required to synthesize the instructions from these pictures, but that is a good thing! As this is the second time I have built this (neither time being from instructions), I know that a bit of variety can exist for a model like this, and still look good.
With that said, build your own version! I have attached some interior bricks pictures below to speed you on your way, and help reduce the time you will need to build this model from pictures.
Happy building!
